toilet party, an idea whose time has come.

A couple hooligans and I would often hole up in the bathroom if there was a tub full of beer in that bathroom

And the places we went, there usually was

Excellent

Decent

Yeah, I read that comic, too.

you must be wearing a misfits shirt, carry a bottle of scotch, and smell like a distillery for this line to work. And it wouldn't hurt to have a handlebar mustache.

But if you don't say that people won't let you know. They just avoid you like they're little miss perfect bowel control.

He wants to know if he shits himself as he enters a party centered around a toilet

bathroom is the sweetest spot at a house party. close to the source of the beer, best placed for peeing or vomiting if needed, good acoustics. well played.

A bittersweet strip, as it signaled the end of the Scotland saga in Lyle's blog, probably my favorite "story arc" in the blogs.

Aye. The way it carried into the strip was damn special though.

Exactly. The best blog story brought in in so subtle a manner it's possible to never know it happened. The clarity he gains in the convent just goes to show that Lyle owns it.

I, too, enjoyed Lyle's Scotland arc, but I don't think he "gained" clarity in the convent. I'm pretty sure that's just how Lyle's brain operates when there's no outside influence. It makes you wonder what the dude could have done if he never picked up a bottle.

I wouldn't have toilet parties, but hall parties are something else; people get all squeezed together in ways that are both uncomfortable and arousing.

Teodor is dancing and having fun! I am glad to see that, as he seems to have less fun than Beef does, despite the lack of depression.

Yeah, Ray relented and let him play the Cure for just one song.

Tódore's dance...he's swiveling, no? That's....adorable.

That dancing completely makes this strip and I totally never noticed it before. It's amazing! That and the bottles on top of Andy.

he dances as Emeril does herein

After being held captive by the catholic church for months, Lyle is now back to being so drunk that he needs people to tell him if he has shat his pants.

Pretty sure the alt-text goes "Lyle picked up some manners in Scotland"

Before his trip, he would not think it necessary for anyone to bother him if he shit himself.

Is that Vlad and Liebot's rectangular friend from "Success!" with beer bottles on his head?

Andy! That's his name.

Liebot's shoes. perfect.

Why would Vlad call Ray about a party when they're already at the door and the doorbell works?

Ray probably didn't answer the door very quickly, so Vlad tried calling him in case he didn't hear the bell.

there's the doorbell, maybe there is someone at the door?

I love Teodors face in Panel 2

I find it heartwarming that I live in a place where Lyle goes to have fun.

You live in Ray's bathroom?

He lives in a world of shit.

The winds of shit are blowing, Randy.

It grew up as a little shitspark, from the ol' shitflame, and then it turned into a shit bonfire, and then, driven by the winds of its monumental ignorance, it turned into a raging shitfire storm.

Lyle's line will remind me of Trainspotting until the day I die.

I love the entire panel devoted to Blister saying "HEY MAN".

Plus, it's kind of a call back to the original "Party" (maybe the last time we saw Ray and Blister together? I can't do the research now), with Ray's note to Teodor on Penny's gift.

Besides, "Hey Man" is just one of the most friendly greetings out there.

The exceptionally long HEY . . . MAN does it for me too. This is just great.

Ray says "Bilster" instead of "Blister" in panel 6. Typo?

Dang tripperday beat me to this. (see below)

I've reread this arc a few times and never had such a big re-LOL as now, when I noticed for the first time Andy carrying three bottles on his head.

And for a re-re-LOL: Highlander reference in the title.

That's my favorite part of the strip; though I like to think that LB and Vlad are just using Andy as a place to put their empties...the guy is basically a wall, so why not?

d'oh, scratch that...someone beat me to it (see next strip).

ditto

The question should be: when ISN'T Vlad workin' the mojo?

The answer is never.

Today's Blogs

Mr. Bear: One might say that Lyle is back.

You are on a mission.

Todd and Nice Pete must still be exchanging shanking lore.

I love that Ray's idea of "get back to work" is get back to watching the blue toilet bowl water.

same panel 3 as the previous strip

Ah. Party in the Shower was a good one with my friends. Especially in my roommate's fraternity house...one big shower, lots of people, and even more alcohol.

Does anyone else see Ray saying "Bilster" instead of "Blister"?

I love that feeling at a party when a bunch of people you know and haven't seen together for a while start showing up.

HEY MAN

Oh classic (Lyle).

It has been years since I first discovered Achewood, and I've read through the archives at least five times since then, and yet this is the first time I ever noticed the Highlander reference on this comic. I love you, Achewood. Run away with me and bear my half-man half-webcomic children.
