The first achewood strip I've ever read. God damn this was a great story arc.

You just have to put on your own favorite personal anthem ever and imagine those hands swiping key rings off pegs... two old boys just standing tall..

You ain't wanna be challenging the JEEPS, dogg. Daammnn.

Dogdammit!

OK, I think people just lamed this comment because they don't like Saint for some reason. There was nothing lame about that.

I know what to expect. It's like virtual vigilante justice.

BE THE RULING BODY!!

Become the ruling body, dude!

This is by far the most epic story arc. Some fine funny-strip writing.

HELL YES

Become the ruling body!

Words to live by.

"Become the ruling body" became my mantra after reading this strip.

I thought those exact same words as soon as I read this.

Agreed.

the left hand grabbing a jeep key has the same black wristband that rodney's got

oh damn

From the GOF hardcover: "Many older-generation fighters honor Morris's memory and wrongful slaying by wearing black wristbands. Fighters of more recent decades, especially those born after Morris's death, tend not to wear the band, as it is seen as 'disrespectful posing' and 'mere fashion' to them (p. 98)." So that answers that!

thank you for the explanation. i haven't gotten said book yet.

Maybe's it's a wristband like you get at concerts, like it's your proof that you're allowed in the tower?

Maybe, but that other guy grabbing keys doesn't seem to have one. I like to think it's some sort of mark for being a former champion.

Other wrist.

Actually look how the fingers are curled under the thumb and how the motion lines are oriented. They're both right hands. One has a black wristband, the other does not.

He wore it before he was champion.

Oh shiiiiiiiiiit!

I propose more work must be done to understand the post-Parent Trap era.

Rodney's so raw he doesn't even say something to the effect that he'll see Ray later.

I haven't read far enough to know how well supported this is or isn't in the strip, but this is kind of a Male Cat Thing. They are hella territorial, and the mother cats chase them off when having kittens. Because, as one of my friends learned the hard way, it is not unusual for male cats to kill their own sons.

oooooh shit. i really hope Onstad is going to play out their relationship in a Zoologically accurate way. Your post brings life to the possibilities!

that, and it's the Code of the Fight...those are the rules, Ray must put the beating on Beef, and Rodney must ride down on his son...to do any less would be a dishonor

Fuck dishonour. Dishonour is driving a jeep over your own son because you have the moral code of an 8 year (i.e. acting as if all rules are absolute).

Somebody earlier pointed out that Ramses was wearing a medallion just like Ray's in the first flashback image of him. Here I see that he's still wearing it, so it must be a coincidence.

They do both wear medallions.

Though somehow I don't think that Ramses' medallion once belonged to King Chochacho, the Fun God.

ahahah woodenteeth has issues with papa

I talked to Freud. He wasn't happy.

There is some stone cold Smokey and the Bandit action coming straight quick.

Those sad little graves are an unwarrantedly depressing aspect of the strip. Mainly because I have an overactive imagination, and it immidiately calls to mind a fabrication of what the three siblings' tragic, brutal last moments might have been like.

Maybe I'll share, one day.

I love ham
