Boy I sounded like an asshole when I said that. Sorry Achewood. Sorry the Internet.

It helps those whose native language is not English. Thank you.

It also helps those whose native language is not insert appropriate programming language here.

Or math.

Or... intelligence.

...well, at least I'm not 11.

Wait, being 11 would give me an excuse.

...I'm just going to turn off the Internet before I embarrass myself any further.

NO don't turn off the interne --

The term comes from a bastardized Italian translation of the name al-Khowarizmi, who was an Uzbek mathematician who, with the book Kitab al-Jabr wa al-Muqaabalah , created the processes we now know as algebra.

What?

Wikipedia says Persian.

But then again, Wikipedia is Wikipedia.

Depending on when al-Khowarizmi lived (which I have a rough idea on, but am too lazy to look up right now), he could have been an Uzbek living in land controlled by the Persian empire. During numerous times throughout the last 3000 years, the Persians controlled much of what is now termed Central Asia, immediately east and north east of Iran's eastern border.

Many people who are considered Tajik, for instance, speak a Persian dialect, and are descended from Persian stock.

(I hate using the word Persian, as it is itself a Greek word and a bastardization of the Iranian region and dialect Parsi/Farsi.)

Fuck... algebra!

I started taking algerba again after six years and I have determined that...

Fuck... ALGEBRA!

That is so cool, and I suck balls at math.

I read in the onion that it's cool to suck at math.

Ohmygoodness I'm minoring in Symbolic Systems. Hofstadter's my main man.

it was a cool book. why do you mention it

Again, "hella" ? Hell of weird and such.

It is a slang that Northern Californians say.

Do not judge us harshly, sir.

Ma'am. What I meant was I expected Beef to say "hell of" rather than "hella". Further reading showed me he uses both.

Panels 1 through 3: Roast Beef channels the darkness that is Nice Pete for a short time.

I have been here.

Not here exactly, but where you are trying to bullshit, and then you end up looking really stupid.

I'm pretty sure we've all been here.
