A fee! Wednesday, March 6, 2002 • read strip Viewing 54 comments:

I owe so many library fees it is insane.

They want you to be overdue, the librarians works for satan.

Remember that time Todd was so overdue on his library books that the FBI, Mi-6, and Interpol were hunting him?

I took out three books on Stonehenge once (long story,) and totally forgot about them.
A year later, I found them in my room!
"Uh oh," I thought, "I'd better get these back to the library... But I don't want to have to pay a fee!"

So I brought them to the library but didn't formally return them! I just tucked them under some Tom Clancy's!

Then, a week later, the librarians called my house and asked me if I had the Stonehenge books and said that there were no late fees on them anyways but if I didn't return them I would have to buy them.

And when I went back and checked under the Tom Clancy's, the Stonehenge books were gone!

So now I owe the library like $300 dollars and I've just been avoiding them all this time.

Kill him.

Your avatar tells me to calm him down, you say to kill him. You're overmedicated?

To clarify: Overmedicated's avatar used to say "Calm him down."

I think it currently says "Kill Him"

Its the smiley face button which is worn by Watchmen's Minutemen, 01/03/09.

It is the smiley face button worn only by the Comedian, thankyou.

so Comic Con was cool this year.

In the words of Sean Connery; Schnap.

I wanted to go to ComicCon so bad, I was just going to get drunk with Dumbrella and be the happiest boy alive.

But I was working.

Hahaha British.

Centre.

Also, Canadian.

Eh?

Also, pretty much every country except the US.

Every English-speaking country.

you have a dieselsweeties lookin' icon. so you suck.

(pssst.. it's a comic book character.. I suck for different reasons)

wow, I looked it up, and yes, that strip is awful. Glad I'm a joiner.

i'm glad i was wrong

except about the language thing!

I was definitely feeling over-imperial that day.

Philippe would make a good librarian.

That stuffed elephant's getting an earful right now.

Interesting that he found a stuffed pink elephant to be the most appropriate groinal shield of all the things he could have chosen.

Appropriate Groinal Shield is my new death metal band. (Firefox does not accept groinal as a word; I shall add it)

Personally, I would have liked to see him in a barrel with suspenders.

The Bankruptcy Barrel!

The alt text aside, I like to think the elephant is the result of the favor he called in during the last strip.

Oh, Pat. Will you never learn?

The thing is - isn't Achewood a world in which stuffed animals are alive? Is that elephant another member of the household?

That's a different comic.

Philipee is a true friend

Ray is NOT beige. This is false.

FALSE! *sob*

Todd must have the most amazing birthday parties.

Alt text: "Looks like Pat was worthless."

It's a really strange color for Ray.

Philippe brings so much joy into my world!

Philippe is so concerned about a fee

Well, he has no way of ever getting any money.

Ever ?

Will people please make up their mind about which colour they more hate Ray being shown in? Grey or beige?

I might then also recommend to these people that do actually consider it at all relevant that they perhaps save the image and then photoshop it to their liking. Perhaps bring Ray out in a delightful mauve, or sapphire blue. These are just hypothetically what my suggestions would be. I would not do such a thing, as it would be crass and unwarrantedly scornful.

Wait, isn't Phillipe also a stuffed animal?

I... I think I need to sit down.

He is also a very naive 5-year-old otter. To fall for Lie Bot's lies is one thing, but he could be a little more cynical around Ray.

Or not.

The otter frets that the coke-addled, VD ridden, frequently dead squirrel might have overdue library books.

Remember that at this point, Todd is a lovable scamp

Panel two:

When a man holds a pink plush elephant afront his crotch, it's probably someone's birthday, at least in Phillipe's experience.

The alt-text makes this strip.

Heh. That is the same elephant that is the inspiration for the elephant costumes during the romance novel write-off/lash of thanatos' thing.
