Premium Vlad.

Vlad never did time because he was never caught.

yeah, i'll buy that.

That really is a believable explanation.

that's a reaction i think i'll need to start employing.

Before I even read Achewood, a friend of mine was telling me about this arc and told me that quote.

To me, it is the one line that pretty much explains my love for Achewood. It's why I'm hooked.

Yeah, but Vlad does it with style.

German people today are so nice and tidy.

also, why does vlad have no hair during this story arc?

Vlad had a mohawk after the great outdoor fight, so I assume he got tired of it and shaved it all off.

Vlad is wearink wife-beater to get into role. Is hilarious!

Ray rented a career criminal from the local prison.

I assumed it was a squirrel. For some reason this was clear as day to me when I read the strip. It wasn't until later that I realized they never show him/her/it.

Squirrels have their own special police force, ambulance service and, presumably prisons. Though in your defense, they never said it was a normal (cat, bear, tiger, etc) criminal.

Oh, I assumed Nice Pete was in the box!

Miami is a career prisoner , which sounds less sucessful (yet, strangely, more dignified) than a career criminal.

That just means he's really good at being in jail than being out of jail.

and kept him in a large crate, no less.

My squirell comment goes here. Pretend this is where it is.

I like how the box shakes in agreement in the last panel.

Oh, you've talk to people who jump out of their seat and point at you when they shout, "Exactly!"

Yay grammar.

5 for the first two panels alone

since when does teodor think cooking is lame

Since he lost that round.

ps: mr onstad, if you ever visit vienna again contact me pretty please.

Is cheap Freud joke.

The criminal concurs with Cornelius so much in the last panel that he shook the metal crate.

POPCORN was the number for the speaking clock in Northern California area codes, but it was recently decommissioned.

I... I can't even handle how perfect that POPCORN reference is!

[ SPLUT! ]

Cornelius is so classy he can pass critical judgment on Europeans...in prison!

Cornelius' classy conversation gives this strip the true sense of surrealism that one would expect from Achewood. Fived, good sirs.

i imagine cornelius incarcerated in an alpine fortress in 1944, accused of being a spy, caught crossing the austrian border, trying to make switzerland to buy some time.

having been incarcerated is nothing to be proud of. this is a funny strip/arc, nonetheless.
