That is the onomotopeia of rain on the car roof and pupils dilating with tension.

Figured it was the engine, but I've been wrong before.

In the next one he starts the car so it must not be.

Pretty sure it is Phillipe trying to start the engine and failing. Note the pukkitas are on Phillipe's side (where the ignition is), his anxious expression and the first panel of the next strip which shows him pleading with the vehicle to start.

Hm yeah I actually don't see much sense to my comment now. Mighta been a lil tipsy....

What is the plural of pukkita? Pukkitas? Pukkitae?

DO YOU WANT SOME PUKKITATA?

The van looks like it's shaking a bit, as if trying to start.

An expository strip, well crafted.

YES PHILIPPE. That is the stand up thing to do. Philippe really keeps his wits about him here.

Yeah, you got to hand it to the little guy, he knows when it's time to cut your losses and just bug the fuck out.

All drivin with no arms

No people. it's okay when someone admits they don't find every strip perfect. It's not going to offend the generous Mr. Onstad and make him stop Achewooding.

i whole-heartedly agree, but I am surprised at how low this strip rates. The tiny escaping Phillipe in panel 2 and his confused, scared face in panal 4 easily make this a four for me... but I fived it for being part of my favourite storyline.
Now I question that choice. Damn.

It's never too late to change it.

Not that I'm losing any sleep over it.

Fived for Pete's pose, panel three.

The old man scared Philippe more than the murderer. Classic.

RUN PHILIPPE!

The pacing on this sequence is really spot-on.

Is Nice Pete angry that his prey is escaping... or trying to call out to the child he is trying to bond with, desperate to explain he means no harm this time?
