Barry is a fish with issues.

He has a complicated life, is all.

That's exactly what he wants you to believe.

...fissues?

i was totally going to..

....go bake myself a birthday cake!

well i had meant, i was going to say "fissues" but somebody beat me to it

which is good and bad, i suppose. i missed out on the glory of coming up with it first, but yet it's gratifying to know that i'm not the only one with..

fissues...

....are kind of depressing. :(

let's write a novel someday.

I cannot stop laughing at this. It is a problem I enjoy.

I don't think so, Tim.

tek, (it cool i call you tek?) you are in much love with this 'meme'.

No one really says this anymore, you know?

i just had all this soup, you know?

(yes, i know what you mean.)

Karl Pilkington has got a head like a fucking orange.

...boned?

Yeah sure he's got issues, but the fella ain't come from circumstances.

He's a friendly guy but he never stops complaining.

But he compensates with Guinness, so it's all good.

The way Beef is saying "was this before or after Janeane finally called" is so perfect. That is exactly the kind of thing you say to someone's boring story. I have met a guy like Barry but without the beer, and it was all I could do not to kill him.

Yeah, I wouldn't tolerate a guy like Barry for five minutes... unless he had plenty of Guinness to spare. Stuff's expensive, and my time is basically worthless.

You guys are being really harsh about Barry. Maybe you wouldn't like to hear Barry talk about his marraige, but this is Beef. He probably asked all the leading questions and genuinely wants to know whether it was "before or after Janeane finally called" 'cos he's got mad empathy skillz.

70% of all people who I've ever worked with are basically Barry. They can be annoying, but when you learn how to listen to them they can almost be a comfort. And yeah, especially if they're packin' stout.

When you're getting free Guinness you drag the conversation out as long as possible.

I always end up stuck with people like Barry. You can't get rid of them. Even saying "fuck off" doesn't work.

You try to sleep with their ex's, or their family.

Wait sorry, "I" do that. You obviously don't, because you get stuck with them. I apologize.

What'd you expect? He's a largemouth bass.

Barry should drink Bass

I hate that, but how could I not chubby it? I must.

Fish know Guiness is a superior brew.

Wouldn't that be cannibalism?

Barry carps overly much for a freshwater fish.

Oh man, I completely forgot these strips existed. Does anybody else notice he talks exactly like Beef?

Barry Bass is the fish version of Beef. :O

Sooo, fish = beef?
What a difference a capital letter makes.

Weirdass concept.

This is false. Beef don't want to put sauce in your ears. Barry Bass is all about putting sauce in your ears.

Tartar sauce!

I want to sue that alt text for false advertising.

Every one-shot character's girlfriend is named Janeanne. The ill-fated Carl had one as well. Perhaps his WWII-era condom is in some obscure way responsible for the fecundity of Barry's partner.

But probably not, because fish do not, in general, have phalluses.

I think they're the same Janeane

Janeane Garofalo

You should never go fishing on Black Lake when the moon is full.

Easy now, fuzzy little Man-peach.

You'll get Guinness or Bailey's. Either way, it's some kind of Irish alcoholic beverage... but at a price

FULL FRONTAL MANGINA

I really don't remember writing that comment, so getting this little gem in my inbox was quite something.

I only started watching A Mighty Boosh last week, so seeing this thread was a real pleasure.

The, The Mighty Boosh.

I also download videos of Are You Getting Served, Faulty Towers, and Coronation Road.

(That is the extent of my knowledge of British television.)

Wait, they used to show East Enders on local TV when I was younger. Maybe they still do.

coronation street? and lame lol thats an old ladys show why would you go to the hassle of downloading it?

eastenders is cool, everyone of those characters should be on anti-depressents

i know you're making the mistakes on purpose, but people might not know you're talking about 'being' served and those 'fawlty' towers. so i have to hint at it in this comment.

dishonorable mention: ab-fab.

"Coronation Road", that is just too much.

OH MY GOD I literally just got the joke that relaxing was making. Because he made a mistake in his original mention of a British show ("A Mighty Boosh", how silly), he chose to make jokes in the names of other British shows he'd heard of, thus continuing the theme.

And all this time I thought he was just retarded.

In fairness, this doesn't rule out a mental handicap on my part.

That's about as close as you can get to Bailey's without gettin' your eyes wet.

Just started watching some of The Mighty Boosh on youtube. It looks brilliant, I wonder if it's on DVD...

It is, at least 3 seasons.

Perhaps I can netflix it. I wonder if it's actually for sale in stores over here, I think I'm confident enough that I can actually buy it...

Are you a fan?

I've looked into it, and the DVDs aren't formatted for the US (if that is where 'over here' is.) Unless you have a fancy PAL-converting regionless DVD player

I can watch region 2 DVDs on my laptop using VLC Player, but I know watching things on the computer isn't the best solution for most people. videohelp.com has a lot of DVD player hacks, too, for making North American (and, I'm assuming, ones from other regions as well) DVD players regionless.

(I clearly spend too much time watching TV.)

Actually, I'm not really a massive fan at all. I mean, I've watched a couple of episodes and I enjoyed them, but so many people I know are just damn crazy about it (like we all are with Achewood, I guess), and I'm a bit like, uhhh what's the huge deal guys.

I definitely loved the first two series, but the third just felt like they ran out of ideas and it kind of sucked a lot. And now they're, like, making a movie and recording an album or something, which makes me want to tell them to just go away for a while.

I would like to update this. I am now a big, BIG fan of The Mighty Boosh. My flatmate at uni got me into it. I can pretty much quote any episode, or anything from the DVD extra features or commentaries. I shit you not. Obsessive McGee.

I think we are all here Obsessives McGee.

one show you didn't list - The Young Ones.

oh hell and damn how did i forget about doctor who

Has anyone noticed that Barry and Beef have the same text style? Barry does seem like a depressed bass, if I know anything about mental disorders in fish.

This is rated much lower than I think it deserves. The fact that they immediately flow into casual conversation makes it funnier for some reason.

this is not Days of Thunder.

i totally heard "hi i'm barry" in a "hi. i'm old gregg" sort of way.

Yeah we're having that same discussion above like a year ago. Come join us!

Barry's "No kidding" doesn't have a question mark.
Guiness is Beef's favourite beer.
Of course it is, and Barry knows why
