This strip is like everything everyone thinks about Garfield already but said in a hilarious way.

i told my cousin he "cold had a peter in his mouth" once...he told me to go bench press a boner.

That is some excellent sass.

I think he won that round.

Props for being man enough to tell us that story, though.

Clearly a master insult swordfighter.

How appropriate, you fight like a cow.

My name is feared in every dirty corner of this island!

So you got that job as janitor, after all.

Guybrush Threepwood references? Now I KNOW I belong here.

A cow that I... Boned?

A cow that I... Boned?

Ahh this might have been mildly amusing if only it had not posted twice. Regrets!

But with your avatar its like

"The cow that I...Boned
WHAT!
The cow that I...Boned
WHAT!"

Add in a drum machine and get p-diddy on it and you've got a hit

I chubbied you for the Scott Pilgrim reference, even if you weren't set up for it at all, and also it was eleven months ago.

A comment left by soticoto was marked lame too many times and excluded. (marked lame by ButterMoths, Deusoma, StagnantDisplay, mercuri0us, Kennisiou, theplaidknight)

I can't be the only one who whispers "up yours Garfield" when I see him on the comic page now, can I?

But yeah, the whole problem with Garfield these days summed up nicely.

You won't be the only one now.

I will whisper it so conspiratorially.

You know how to make Garfield funny?
Remove Garfield.

I'd heard about this before, but only checked it today. It is incredible .

Oh My God! Thats awesome.
It adds such depth to the work. I.. I can't stop reading them.

i should not laugh, but i do...
what is wrong with me.

it's sad what garfield has become... normally, i'd stand up for him, but when jim davis isn't even writing the comic and you try to create live action movies on the character... yeah... up yours garfield.

HE DIALS GARFIELD'S NUMBER SO INTENSELY

mercilessly even

BEEP BOP DWEEP DWOP DOOP

He dials like a white person. probably even licked his finger

It is as if Ray did not dial Garfield's number at all, and yet was convinced in the blind emancipation demanded by his rage that he had somehow reached him by pressing random buttons on the phone-pad.

all numbers lead to Garfield, kid .

...all sippin the martini, gearin up for the final blow, and damn its a muther

The saddest thing about Garfield is that the strips are his finest dreams.

Holy christ... That's a very different side of Garfield...

Garfield doesn't even care anymore. He just takes it. Is so sad.

Did...he ever care?

The casual sipping of the cocktail in the last two panels really sells the moment and comic to me.

Beef's face, bottom left panel. It's like he just saw Santa.

Excellent work Onstad. Note the placement of the signature message between the last two panels, which forces a gap between the last two panels, emphasising the pause Ray takes before telling Garfield what he needs to hear :) All hail the O

"You cold have a peter in your mouth." 5.

Garfield keeps trying to hang up the phone, Ray won't let him do it.

It's the 'ssssssip' between 'Hey Garfield' and 'Up yours Garfield' that makes this for me. That and the fcat that Garfield is clearly a fat, dissipated lisping old lush: the Harvey Fierstein of the comic cat world.

i think it's brilliant how the whole setup of these strips is a metaphor for how outdated these comics are in relation to the genius that is achewood. when has garfield ever made me laugh spaghetti out of my nose, then lie there laughing even as a i choke on hot bolognaise. the answer: never.

It's like Garfield is John Henry and Ray is the steam drill.

As if Garfield is Phineas Gage and Ray is the tamping iron.

Ray made Garfield beat his wife?

after he sips the martini where does the glass go

He throws it to the ground, or towards a wall, I'm guessing.

It goes up Garfield's. Ray just wills it there.

I disagree. He has shoved it into his mouth.

"You could have a peter in your mouth."

"You have a cold peter in your mouth."

And it still works!

Odie is lucky he didn't answer the phone

I also love Garfield's half-assed attempts at comeback. Guy's been surrounded by yes-men for so long, he just can't deal with this.

He's just not exactly looking for any INput is all.

it hurts me a little when I laugh at this. When I was a child, I thought garfield was the epitome of sequential art.

Yeah, but when I was, like, five or whatever, I felt the same way about the Family Circus cartoons in which the little boy - Timmy, or whoever - leaves a trail which details his adventures through the backyard. Sometimes I see those and feel a little pang of uncomfortable nostalgia. It's seems so familiar and it briefly returns my mind to a time of comfortable ignorance, but I've come to hate basically all that the strip stands for. It hurts, but we must move on. We simply must.

This was my first strip.

He is dialing so AGGRESSIVELY!

Garfield past his prime is still funnier that most other comics on the page...I'm sad to say. Yeah, he's jumped the shark, but he's Douglas Adams compared to shit like Ziggy, Herb & Jamaal, Wizard of Id, BC...look, just go to www.joshreads.com.

Don't you ever compare Garfield and Douglas Adams. We're not exactly looking for your INput.

Total 5 even if just for the 'You cold have a peter in your mouth.'
That phrase will never tire me.

Man for me Garfield jumped the shark in the first strip pretty much. Maybe I just never gave it enough of a chance, but I can't stand that shit. I'm spoiled by Achewood, but I hated Garfield before Achewood existed. I guess what I'm trying to say is, right on Ray.

Is it weird that this Garfeild is so different to the one that shops at Perky Pervs?

There's actually been a bit of recent commentary that suggests that Onstad doesn't care much for continuity (unless he can use it for seriously witty means).

Having a guy lay into you with this magnitude can really mess up a guy. Ray changed Garfield's outlook on life with this call.

For me, it's that he repeats "Garfield" in the last panel. This strip is brilliant.

I love how he even has the Jim Davis-esque copyright and title right in between panels there.
Cold subliminals.

Actually, Onstad just used to have this in most of his strips back then.

Well shoot in that case man I guess that I am just going to say nothing at all. shoot.

The finality of a whispered "up yours"...almost tragic for the recipient.

Ahh the arrogant innocence of a newly minted comic strip genius. Pray you never go the same way as Jim Davis, O...

The dude has no mercy.

Garfield sucks.

I wanted to give this comic a 4, but I was peer pressured by Assetbar into giving it a 5.

That is how to end an insulting conversation. Textbook.

"WE are not looking for input."
Sweet Christmas, HANG UP RAY, THE ROBOTIC SYNDICATE THAT WRITES GARFIELD IS TRACKING YOU!
