It is achewood realismo-absurdism. It is not supposed to be funny. It is supposed to give you an unforgiving look at yourself.
When you are not home, anyone can come to the door. Nobody is at the door when you are home.

The joke is that Stanley Tucci came to the door, but since no one was home, he left. On the whole, I'd say it's a pretty "Achewood" moment.

Wake up! Wake up!
Wha...? What is it, Lie Bot?
Stanley Tucci's here! He wants to see you!
Really? Wow!
He has a blinking tooth!
That's so awesome!

I couldn't agree more. This should be AT LEAST a 3.5 but you people ruined it. This is why Stanley Tucci doesn't visit anymore.

Achewood was pretty weird during the first year... But it did establish the idea that the stuffed animals cannot meet humans.

I liked Stanley Tucci in Big Night, too. My dog better tell me if he shows up or I will be angrier than a nest of angry hornets at the angry farm on angry day.

I dunno, I liked this strip. There's just something really funny about the anticlimax to me. I've seen it mentioned elsewhere, but the humor is in the specifics. Stanley Tucci is specifically mentioned, so you expect a joke related to him or one of his movies, may be even "Big Night." Then, suddenly, he leaves instead. I think it's the fact that Onstad DIDN'T go with what's expected that makes this one funny.

This is just... Hmm. I enjoy Achewood, and read every day. This is actually my third read-through. And whilst I can understand that Onstad may still have been carving his niche, this just seems like nothing.

I love that other than the otter's wave, they don't move at all. I think they were already standing in the window, and they just take it in stride when the somewhat famous middle-brow actor shows up. Cornelius all back-of-the-rental-box style. Teodore with an exclamation mark but still has his hands behind his back like some patient civil war general.

I think this might actually be the only real mention of humans living with Cornelius, Teodor, and Philipe. But then again, I could be completely full of shit.
