Never in human, or indeed cat history, has the relationship been summed up so accurately.

No joke.

we get by.

wow.

great one, but does "slice, slice" count as onomatopoeia?

It's an actual word. If it were like "shhhhthut" then it would be one.

Size has nothing to with it. "Sha-DOOOM-rumbleumbleumble", being the sound of a ship carrying refined oil catching fire and exploding, is a perfectly acceptable onomatopoeia.

I'm going to reference the 60's Batman show fight scenes now. It was

POW

BIFF

but never PUNCH or HIT IN THE FACE

"Hit in the face" probably isn't an onomatopoeia (even if it might be used as such for ironic effect), but punch might be.
The Batman show chose its onomatopoeias for specific effect, that doesn't mean they necessarily define the available field.

The all time best was "BARROOM!" Specifically for fights in discos and such.

What's the difference between Smoke and an elephant fart?

Smoke is a bar room, whereas an elephant fart is more of a "BARROOM!"

Groan-worthy, but chubbed for the avatar.

MEET A FIST!!

*ckk*
she killed my dog.

YES.

No, wait, I meant, "Uuuuuuuuuuuuuumkay."

Instant chubby for referencing Adam West's Batman.

Spiny is so desperately trying to talk sense to these people. Man, sometimes you just have to accept that someone just believes that they're right and can't be bothered to learn the truth about things. Valiant effort, though.

Oh, SpinyNorman. I think I have a crush on you.

My coworker has no idea why I just high-fived him.

My family will have no idea why I'm waking them up with my laughter.

(Hello, time difference.)

But who needs 'slice' to be accepted as onomatopoeia when you have splup sklurgh ?!

And like waiting day after day for a soldier to return from war, still we have not seen the chicken recipe. Cheeky alt text.

these romance bits with molly and beef kind of put me out of sorts

ALT TEXT: Tomorrow's recipe: Chicken!

Someday Onstad is going to have an alt text that reads, "Yesterday's recipe: Chicken!" and many loyal readers will suffer an instantaneous mental breakdown.

What the hell???

it never is lupus, Dr. House. It never is.

You are insults are my secret shame.

I tend to go for "I'll _____ you in a minute!"

Like,
"Shut up and do the vacuuming."
"I'll vacuum you in a minute!"

That's one of the more logical ones.

I like them too

Same, but I tend to eschew the "In a minute" part. More aerodynamic.

"I'll show you a _______. Bend over"

What if someone said "Fuck you!" ?

"I'll fuck you in a minute"

Simple.

Or Your Mum fucked you.

Or I'll fuck you. Bend over.

I'll show you a fuck! Bend over!

yeah that one's better

Thanks, I had to practice for a few days to get it right.

I usually say "Your face _____"

Your face will do the vacuuming

when those types of replies work against you, is it funny or sad?

Mine are of the tacking on "your mom" variety, but never in a way that would be obscene or could pass as an actual insult.

Example: "Hey, could you stop by the grocery store after work?"
"Your Mom went to the grocery store!"

I then ask if they can feel the burn (they can't)

Man, never get embroiled in a battle of "your moms".
Let the other person get one "your mom" in and then reply, "I don't have a mother. Me and my dad share yours."

Thank you, stealing that.

Simply brilliant.

So good then?

The exaggerated answer kind of reminds me of Zits.

Oh dang I just compared Achewood to a newspaper comic. At least it's a relatively good newspaper comic.

Agreed on both counts. Though I'm not a Zits fan or anything, it's hard to dislike...even if my parents still say "this guy is just like you!"

My mind jumped to Zit Remedy.

Everybody wants something. They take your money, and you know what else? They never give up.

so it goes.

I love this comic. Especially the wry final line and the splup sklurgh .

Re-reading it, I was reminded of this... it's called "it feels like this": [img src= https://www.jenwang.net/art/images/itfeelslikethis.jpg]

by Jen Wang

Both pieces hurt in familiar ways.

Crap, here's that image I was trying to show =
[IMGS OFF]

Wang.

Wait, this isn't the Penny Arcade board...

i only saw the top of her head ... im not going to explain what i thought it was.

pssst. it was a penis.

so ridiculously true.

i just did a little cry at this

Is that his bladder?

word. i didnt exactly get it, either...

word. i didnt exactly get it, either...

This is so right, I don't even have words for it. Just... "yes."
