Roast Beef has impeccable taste in vehicles.

this is the first Achewood strip I ever read, and I was hooked by the time I read the alt text

The Ford Galaxie was such an awesome car. They don't make cars that gangster anymore.

Alt: "Peel-Out Summer (US, 1981). Starring James Bolfiere, Carl Nolan and Timothy Shaw. A group of teenage friends spend their last summer together peeling out."

God, I wish this were a real movie. It would be at least half as good as The Born Losers.

Chubby not for the upright alt-text service, but for that commentary

Well I imagine "Peel-Out Summer" would be a much sweeter, more nostalgiac film, I'm pretty sure Ray would also enjoy " Two Lane Blacktop "

I really want to see that movie...

Yeah. Someone needs to make this movie. Or a remake of it. We don't see many remakes of fake films these days, and it feels like America is ready for a Peel-Out Summer.

Also, this car is damn sexy. Check it out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:1965_Ford_Galaxie.jpg

I must find one.

You muft .

'peel out summer' sounds to me like a cross between 'dazed and confused' and 'vanishing point'.

one of my favorite alt texts ever

also the wikipedia for this car and the subaru brat mention achewood

I wonder if Ray got Lie Bot the DeLorian from Back To The Future. After all, he does have the Flux Capacitor.

Is it just me or does that car resemble the Trent Reznor Volvo of Despair? Where's Ben Stiller when you need him?

I have ridden in my friend's uncle's Galaxie. It is hella rude.

A FOUR? Are you shitting me?

4.1 now.

One of my very favorite story arcs is about to begin :)

Panel seven is a fukkin 5!

I love Beef's transformation from fear/reluctance to utter amazment with little fist shakies.

Banned in six states?

That confused me too. How would you enforce such a ban? The only state that could get away with it is Hawaii.

If it pollutes too much to pass emissions tests then it can't pass inspection, and without a legal sticker from at least some state, you might get pulled over.

Man, I LOVE that fuckin'car! My brother had a '65 Galaxie EXACTLY like that! Except it wasn't a convertible, and it was a 4-door. And it didn't have the 427. But otherwise it was EXACTLY like that!

To be fair, none of the Galaxies came with the Cammer engine. You had to buy it seperate and install it yourself or have it installed. This is a shame, since it outperformed Chrysler's Hemi engine by a good margine, but wasn't aproved for the racing circuits because it was never a factory option.

As a side note, I saw a Galaxie with the cammer engine installed for sale a few years ago. $3k for the car sans engine, $35k for the car with engine. At the time I had $0k, so I bought neither.

Chubbied for the Cammer (SOHC) reference

4.1 - 4.2 I'm here allllll night

I love this strip so much, I'm going to check if Peel-Out Summer is available through Netflix. Also, this:

Yes. This.

That is one rad picture.

Every now and then, I see Real Life Cats photoshopped on Assetbar, none of the anthropomorphism in their expression and, you know, it does as much for me as LOLCATs.

I didn't Lame this though... that's for idiots. A for effort.

How do you get alt text.

Hold down the "Alt" key and refresh the page. New text appears.

The pause in panel 7 just MAKES it for me.. "no way... no... WAY" priceless pause comedy.

Ray sticking his tongue out in panel 7 similarly does it for me.

David Berkowitz's car!

Panel 2 belongs in the Hall of Beef Expressions

The way Beef opens just one eye at first makes me happy

I'm choosing to believe that this is brought on by childhood memories of Ray saying "Now open your eyes." and then hitting Beef in the head with a bat.

This really is what it's like to have your mind blown by something so radical.

I believe my father once totaled a car exactly like this one. The best part: it wasn't his.

Really? Not ONE comment about what a completely rad friend Ray is for buying Beef a '65 Galaxie with the Cammer 427?
