Showbiz is of low mind.

Showbiz and Beef came from the same Circumstances. But Showbiz didn't have a friend like Ray.

I can't see how having a friend like Ray would make you smarter. Except by comparison.

Beef may not be super high-class, but at least he can appreciate some brie.

Mmwatcha say...

But Ray drinks it all, he sees the big picture. Showbiz is small-time. He would probably want Al Pacino to pay him back for those peanuts.

Showbiz is of Mariana Trench mind.

But that would make him deep.

That play on words just rendered me sterile.

I'm sure you'll notice a...vas deferens...in your sex life.

Oh shit I had to read that three times before I understood the brilliance of your pun

Yet also hella far from bright.

Deep and low are much akin in literal meaning, much opposed in this context though.

You know how people talk about laughing so hard they cry?
I did not think that was possible until today.
Chubbied for making me cry at a funny thing.

Well, improving someone's mood can often be thought to be a plus. I suppose it is a shame that I don't really get the humour of it myself however.

We all know people like Showbiz. Beef's expressions as Showbix talks to him in the first few panels are so true.

If you rob a man a bank, he'll be wealthy for a day. But if you *teach* a man to rob...

wealthy for a day? What kind of small ass banks do you rob?

probably piggy banks.

I should teach people how to rob piggy banks.

Wait for family to leave house. Grab hammer. Find childrens room. Take.

Congratulations. You have four dollars and seventeen cents in pennies and nickels.

And a quarter from Nebraska.

Not the Mayor's quarter!

Perfect avatar/comment synergy.

If you build a man a fire, you keep him warm for a day. If you set a man on fire, you keep him warm for the rest of his life.

"Culling is the process of removing animals from a group based on specific criteria. This is done in order to either reinforce certain desirable characteristics or to remove certain undesirable characteristics from the group. ..." (Google)

Are you sure that's the word you're looking for??

Oh, here I go, correcting terms of someone who commented two years ago...

One of my oldest friends is a Showbiz. He was always on his way to being a Showbiz growing up, and now he's graduated to "borrowing" money and possessions from me and moving to different states.

I know a guy like that. He's worked several construction jobs, used to have a shultzstaffen tattoo but didn't really know what it meant, once stole a Lotus and has broken up with one girlfriend about nine times.

They are now living together. I don't know, either.

how did he possibly steal a Lotus ??

This is an incredible question that demands an answer.

Showbiz is funny because he's true. And he's terrifying because he's real.

Let's face it, Showbiz is robbing the local Kum & Go, not a bank.

Chubbied because I still laugh like a preteen every time I see a Kum & Go.

2nd to last panel is a Beeflike moment for Showbiz.

For a short time, Showbiz remembers that he is from Circumstances.

Nah, he was just thinking. It didn't work.

"Only $10,000, cash only please, no questions asked! Recoup your training fee your FIRST TIME OUT! But you haven't heard the best part. You give us 10% of your heists! I know that doesn't sound like the best part, but you haven't heard the best part! For every friend you refer to The Academy, we give YOU $1,000, and you get 5% of their heists! Think about it! Money in the bank(tm)! Call today! KL5-2675"

Extra chubby for the classic KLondike exchange.

gimme the money, i'm from switzerland (immediately shoots teller without waiting for a reply)!

That ain't really fair on Showbiz, he knows of Acapulco!

For the record, Showbiz ain't the only guy to ever spread brie on a hot dog bun.

I know for certain that he is definitely not.

roast beef used a question mark. discuss.

It's okay. He put a couple spaces between the last word and the punctuation. he does that sometimes.

Why does he call it cheese if he thought it was mayo?

It's possible that he thought the hotdog bun was old mayo...which only raised further questions.

Weekend Blogs (Friday - Sunday)

Pat: On to Mollie Stone's.
Teodor: Revisit of the recurring dream
Philippe: Playin' with Franky!

Best Pat blog EVER, people.

Yes, that is a very good Pat blog... but this is my personal fave

Philippe's made me express my reaction to his cuteness in a decidedly effeminate way. I shall not go into detail. Just imagine me clearing my throat gruffly and looking slightly admonished.

The dropping of Showbiz's guard in the penultimate panel is touching and hilarious.

Showbiz ain't no armed robber. Showbiz is the guy who can barely carry off heists on the level of "snag all the change from the Take A Penny Leave A Penny plate while the cashier's back is turned".

It's always sad when a bank robber feels that he must shoot the teller for insinuating that he knows few countries.

"why don't you just make ten louder, and make ten the highest number?"

"...POW!"

Showbiz reminds me of every other Rock and Roll musician I grew up around. I remember falling asleep to covers of every Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, and Guns N' Roses song known among the Mulletkin. Corona and Budweiser may as well have fueled the amperage. A dream is a loud creature.

On topic: what the fuck is with him holding his gun hand around the wrist?? Straight up insecure, that symbolism.

Its supposed to symbolize holding a gun with both hands.

Showbiz is the kind of guy who would procure only the largest revolver he could find. After breaking his wrist twice, and nose once, he now knows the proper grip to not ruin his own shit.

I don't know that he's pretending to hold a revolver...I think it's a pump-action shotgun. Notice how he shucks the used shell out with the sound ch and slides a new one in with the chk.

pow!

I'm pretty sure the only people signing up for this class would be people like Showbiz...of which there are quite a few. As long as he doesn't take any personal cheques he could do ok here.

The last three panels are a great example of the set-up - suspense - punchline. Onstad knows his comedy.

I had a roommate just like Showbiz at college. All tryin' to get work done, him all tryin' to talk about nonsense, me all wondering how he got into college to begin with. Nobody liked him.

"If you have the skitters, don't go lookin' for poontang."

I got that in a fortune cookie once. Sound advice.
