man, i am so going to have a nightmare about that last panel tonight.

Giant apocalyptic machinery, mowing us all down.

this is the song that was made about this strip.

https://freezepop.net/listen/songs/Freezepop_Here%20Comes%20a%20Special%20Boy.mp3

I always imaged the "Here Comes a Special Boy" song itself, as played by the sneakers, to sound like "Bringin' Sexy Back."

I'm bringing Special back...
them other otters don't know how to act...

God dammit, that song couldn't fail to cheer up even Beef.

You are alone, sitting in a chair in your living room when suddenly you hear a noise. It is faint, but it still rings out in your head.
"Here comes a special boy."
You hear it again and again in a series of slow, rhytmic repeats.
"Here comes a special boy"
"Here comes a special boy"
It gets faster and faster until it becomes a speedy echo of itself.
"Herecomes-herecomes-herecomes"
Faster.
"Here-here-here-here-here comes a special boy!"
It stops. You see a figure in the hallway now. It is a silhouette of a man. You are frozen in fear.

>Go west

It is very dark in the west.
You are eaten by a Grue.

OHHHHHHHHHHHH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTT

This predicament seems particularly cruel.
But it's my fault for not having a torch or a match in my inventory.

>Take all

Frontachubby.

It's even scarier that each Speaker Sneaker has its own 120v power cable.

The modified SA version where he falls over was the first thing Achewood related I ever saw.

link please!

Sorry I can't find it. If anyone else remembers this and wants to dig it up that would of course be rad.

This one is on my office door

How has no one invented these?

Probably cause in the next panel Phillipe runs out of cable and busts his nose open on the floor.

in the photo contest there was a submission with a guy with speakers on his shoes...

They have been invented. The Dada Footwear Code M's were on the market when you posted your comment. No one knew, because they didn't work anyway.

Oh man. I think I said somewhere that another Philippe strip was my favorite, but I think I have to make it this one.

why is this not #1?!

I was wondering that same thing. I think it's just such a classic that people don't even feel the need to rate it highly because it's pretty much in the canon forever.

Automatic 5 from me. It may not be my absolute favorite, but it may be the best.

Really, no matter how good a strip is, it can never usurp Ray Gets Sort Of Stoned. That strip is bomb.

Pure genius

someone in fact DID make speakersneakers.

from the photo contest!

best. shoes. ever.

Not only one, but two cords coming from the shoes.
I smell a safety hazard.

When you smell a safety hazard, it's already too late...

"I am sorry this cartoon wasn't posted until 1. Hey, at least it's not Hat Week anymore. That sucked."

That was the Alt text.

No offense, but when my kid turns 5 and it comes time to trick or treat, the first thing I'm going to tell him is to stay away from afronaut's house for at least 13 years.

He is five. And an otter. And a plush toy. You are wrong.

I think you're required, by law, to inform all of your neighbors of this fact.

Ultra Peanut? Is that you?

That comment with that avatar is pretty funny.

Last night whilst walking along the pier I witnessed a child with a very loud squeaky toy. The mother, with infinite patience, was gently requesting the item from the daughter. I can't help but wonder if the residents of this household are as forgiving for these shoes.

There was this early episode of Kids Next Door that had Numbah One going to an amusment park while the others stayed at the treehouse. There, there was this guy in a lion suit who kept poking him and saying "Who's a happy boy? Who's a happy boy? Who's a happy boy?" over and over again.

I always hear "Here comes a special boy" in that same tone and voice.

i died when i saw the last panel

First Achewood thing I saw.
Immedeately hooked.

Classic Philippe's-Mom.

This is the comic that got me reading Achewood.

This strip is truly the Finest. It's why I am now an Achewood junkie.

Ok, my turn to say it: this was when I knew Achewood was gonna be a thing for me.

This strip made me smile, but it was a very sad smile. 5'd for emotional complexity.

The guy who actually made the speaker-sneakers kind of has a Philippe look to him. This is a good thing.

Get em with motion sensors, so when you run by someone, it changes to "There Goes a Special Boy".

I can only hope that Onstad is in talks with Seiko and Nike to make a kinetic version in time for my own children.

But I liked Hat Week...

A friend of mine used to have a one man band thing going on that was called Here Comes A Special Boy. His explanation of the name is what pretty much inspired me to start reading Achewood. If you're reading this, thanks Brian!

Must. Buy. Those. Rad. Shoes. Now. D:

This site is amazing! the comics are hilarious, the comments are hilarious! i have ;laughed more at some of the comments than the real comic! I gotta say it, this comic/site/thing is *deepbreath* better than penny arcade. there, i said it. now lame me into oblivion.

Why would anyone lame you for stating such an obvious truth?

I think the implication that he reads Penny Arcade is enough to get lames around here.

A shoe is an item of cscs exam footwear evolved at first to protect the human foot and later, additionally, as an item of decoration in itself. The foot contains more bones than any other single part of the body, and has evolved over hundreds of thousands of years in relation to vastly varied terrain and climatic conditions. Together with the proprioceptive system, it is cset exam what makes balance and ambulation possible.

Until recent years, shoes were not fcat exam worn by most of the world's population%u2014largely because they could not afford them. Only with the advent of mass production, making available for the first time the cheap flip-flop-type sandal, for example, has shoe-wearing ftce exam become predominant.

Excellent post - very interesting research I will look more into this! keep it up. I found very good and informative blog and have bookmarked your site for future reference. I really appreciate your way of presenting such an excellent suggestion. I want more and i will come back here, regards
